Five conversations on Japan:
Keiko Sato

(September-October 2002)

After battling a major illness, which corresponded with me witnessing the September 11 attacks in NYC, I changed my working methods and started to search for new insights into my life and work. I began digging up memories of my father who served as a Kamikaze Pilot in the Japanese Army. It prompted a larger project about the history and survival politics of my family and my country; Japan. Transcripts of a series of interviews with cultural and political figures from my father's generation have been edited and realized as a website here.
